Will the electric bill be lower using split air conditioning than window type of same BTU?

I live in a tropical climate. I want to reduce my electric bill. I want to know if split air conditioning will really make a difference than using window air conditioning. How long until the savings repay the higher price of a split unit? Will the electric bill be lower using split air conditioning than window type of same BTU?
If they both have the same BTU rating and the same electric power efficiency, then your electric bill will not change. The only reason the split is more expensive, is because you are buying the comfort of having the noisy compressor far away, thus you can sleep or work in a quiet envirnment.

That is why it is called ';split'; because it is just a window type split into two pieces: the compressor outside and the fan unit inside.

My advice, if you don't mind the noise, go with the window type because it is cheaper and has lower maintenance. The split is more expensive and requires more maintenance. Will the electric bill be lower using split air conditioning than window type of same BTU?
Absolutely you'll find it more comfy and a lot cheaper.
